The National Teaching Council—NTC says teachers who do not get themselves licensed by the council will lose their right to practice as teachers in Ghana. 

According to the council in a directive to all teachers in the country, they indicated that they will commence licensing and registering of teachers in May 2021.

The National Teaching Council in their statement further added that as part of the process for licensing teachers, all qualified teachers who were employed before 1st September, 2018 are required to log on to the NTC’s Teacher Portal Ghana and register.

The council further cautioned teachers against that “all qualified teachers who fail to avail themselves for this licensing
and registration exercise shall lose their right to practise as teachers in Ghana in accordance with section 64 (1) of the Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020, Act 1023.”
