Western Togoland: Papavi’s Group Says they’re Not Responsible for Friday’s Violent Disturbances
Western Togoland Sesesionisnts have issued a statement denying knowledge of the violent attacks that occurred yesterday in the Volta Region.
It could be recalled that on Friday, 25th September, 2020, a group of persons carrying the flags of the alleged Western Togoland Sesesionisnts blocked the major entry Roads that lead into the Volta Region.
However, the purported Western Togoland Sesesionisnts have Released a statement in which they denied knowledge of the attacks that occurred Friday, 25th September, 2020.
A portion of the statement from the group said:
“We wish to bring it to the attention of the general public that we are not responsible for any acts of violence and have condemned the open arms display of gun tires on the aggrieved youths registering their displeasure for keeping their citizens for months without at least granting them bail which is their human rights, and wish to register our dismay at the continuing oppression of Western Togoland citizens by Ghana.”
The statement from the group also called on the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo to call the security forces to order to prevent more unnecessary happenings. The statement added that:
“The Ghana government whose President doubles as the ECOWAS chairman must call its security forces to order to prevent more of this unnecessary happenings”
