VIDEO: Political interference in GRIDCo is the cause of the current Dum-Sor – Hon. John Jinapor
The Ranking Member on Parliament’s Mines and Energy Committee Hon. John Jinapor says the problems GRIDCo has is caused by political interference.
Speaking on the JoyNews the lawmaker said that the President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo led Government is interfering with the work of the power distribution company GRIDCo.
According to Hon. John Jinapor, before they—NDC left office in 2016, GRIDCo made a profit of 69million but after the New Patriotic Party took over in 2017, the power supply company started making loses.
The lawmaker further added that, from 2016 to 2017 GRIDCo made a loss of 31 million and in the year 2018, the company’s debt skyrocketed to 114 million which has resulted in the frequent power outages.
“GRIDCO could borrow in its own Ballance sheet without Government support when we were leaving office in 2016 because in 2016, GRIDCO made a profit of 69 million which means that they had turn around and they were now making it.
From 2016 to 2017, they made a loss of 31 million, in 2018, it skyrocketed to 114 million.” — Hon. John Jinapor said.
