“President Nana Akufo-Addo had no option than to reduce the size of his Government” – Joyce Bawah Mogtari
Mrs. Joyce Bawah Mogtari who is a special aide to former President John Dramani Mahama says President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo had no option than to reduce the size of his Government.
According to lawyer Joyce Bawah Mogtari, President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo did not willingly reduce the size of his Government but he did it because Ghanaians sent him a strong message.
In a tweet, Mrs. Joyce Bawah Mogtari said;
“President Nana Akufo-Addo had absolutely no options but to downsize the humongous number of ministers and scrap the superfluous ministries created in 2017.
It just had to be done, after Ghanaians sent him a strong message, reflected in the disputed presidential and parliamentary election results.”

President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo appointed one hundred and twenty six (126) Ministers during his first term as President of the Republic of Ghana.
Following his appointment, many citizens criticised the President for putting together such a huge Government as it will be a drain on the public purse which he swore to protect.
Following his swearing in as President of Ghana for the second term after his victory in the 7th December, 2020 Presidential election, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo has nominated certain individuals to serve as Ministers in his new administration.
As required by law, the President submitted the names of his nominees to the Parliament of Ghana for the nominees to be vetted.
The list presented by the President indicates that he has reduced the number of ministers in his Government by 41 ministers thus from 126 to only 85.
What do you make of President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s decision to reduce the number of Ministers by 41 from 126 to only 85.
