NDC writes to Jean Mensa to refund their 2020 Election filing fees

The opposition National Democratic Congress has written to the Electoral Commission to refund them their Election 2020 filing fees. 

In a letter to the chairperson of the Commission, the NDC requested of the Electoral management body to refund them their filing fees for 269 Constituency.

The party also demanded for a refund of the filling fees deposit for their Presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama.

According to the NDC, Mr. John Dramani Mahama obtained 47.396% of the total valid votes cast which is more than the Constitutional requirement of 25%.

In a letter signed by Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Democratic Congress said

The Functional Executive Committee (FEC)of the National Democratic Congress sends you warm greetings.

FEC also wishes to inform you that it is formally requesting for a refund of deposits it made in  respect of it’s Presidential and Parliamentary candidates.

Regulations 46(1) and 46(3) of C.1.127 spell out the conditions for a refund or forfeiture of  deposits made by Presidential or Parliamentary Candidates.

A Presidential or Parliamentary
Candidate must obtain a minimum of 25% and 12.5% respectively in a General Election to qualify for a refund.
