“Ghana is broke!” Joe Jackson speaks on 2021 budget

The Director of Strategy and Business Operations at Dalex Finance, Mr Joe Jackson says “Ghana is broke”.

The Ghanaian business mogul was Commenting on the 2021 budget  statement read on behalf of President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo by Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu.

According to him, the country—Ghana is broke as the country spends 49.5% of it’s total revenue on paying of interests on loans.

He further stated that the Government needed to increased its tax revenue or else the country may not be able to borrow anymore and hence the imposition of direct taxes as done in the 2021 budget.

The business Mogul also added that the taxes in the 2021 budget will poor persons in the country than the wealthy.

In a tweet, Mr. Joe Jackson said ;

“Ghana is broke! We spend 49.5% of revenue on interest payments. Govt needs to increase tax revenue else we may not be able to even borrow more. This budget takes the easy way out by imposing indirect taxes which affect the poor more than the wealthy.”
