Ghana Immigration Service tightens security at borders due to Prison Breaks

Mr. Laud Ofori Afrifa, Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service has caution the control officers to be vigilant in preventing the entry of prison escapees into the country.

This statement was issued following the escape of about 1844 inmates from the Owerri Custodial Centre in the early hours of 5th April 2021 in Imo State of Nigeria.

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has therefore instructed all its station officers at the boarders to be vigilant so as to prevent the Nigerians who broke jail from entering the country.

The Service has also called on citizens to be on high alert and report any such person suspected to have been part of those who broke out of the Nigerian Jail.
