“Ghana beyond aid but you are borrowing money to start a national bank” – A Plus asks Government

Musician turned Politician Kwame Asare Obeng aka A Plus has called out the President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo led Government for borrowing 170 million euros to establish a new national bank.

President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo -Addo earlier today announced that “The Ministry of Finance and the European Investment Bank have signed an agreement for the provision of a one hundred and seventy million euro (€170 million) facility for the establishment of a new national bank, the Development Bank Ghana (DBG).”

Commenting on the announcement made by the President, Kwame Asare Obeng popularly known as A Plus said that Government spent over close to 21 billion Ghana cedis to collapse banks that needed about 9 billion to survive and later borrow 170 million euros to establish a new national bank.

He further added that, banks in the country are already struggling to survive but the President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo led Government is borrowing to establish another National bank.

In a post Kwame Asare Obeng said;

“you spent over close to 21 billion Ghana cedis to collapse banks that needed about 9 billion to survive and later borrow 170 million euros to establish a new national bank when you already have NIB which is struggling, ADB which is struggling, GCB Bank and CBG. #Anadwoyɛdɛ
