Ameyaw Debrah says the result of the voting in Parliament is beautiful for the Country’s Democracy

Renowned Ghanaian blogger Ameyaw Debrah says the result of the voting in the Parliament of Ghana is beautiful for our the country’s democracy. 

According to him, the election of a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Hon. Kingsford Sumani Bagbin as the speaker of Parliament even though his party is not in Government.

In a tweet, Ameyaw Debrah wrote;

“I think the result of the voting in
parliament is beautiful for our
democracy, minus all the disgraceful
behavior of the honorables! If Nana
and Bawumia at anytime are both out of ghana, Bagbin would act as
president”

BACKGROUND

The former Member of Parliament for the the former Member of Parliament for the Nadowli Kaleo Constituency, Hon. Kingsford Sumani Alban Bagbin has been sworn in as the Speaker of the of the 8th Parliament.

However, during the counting of votes from in the process of electing a Speaker of Parliament for the 8th Parliament, one of the members of the Parliament Elect on the side of the New Patriotic Party snatched the ballot papers and bolted with them.

This action by Hon. Carlos Ahenkorah resulted in a near violent confrontations between the Member of Parliament elect on the side of the Natuonal Democratic Congress and that of the New Patriotic Party.

There is still doubts on the mind of many Ghanaians as to which caucus in Parliament should form the majority in Parliament sin the National Democratic Congress has 137 seats and the New Patriotic Party also have 137 seats with one independent member of Parliament.
